Outsiders

The Outsiders to holenderski zespół Nederbeat z Amsterdamu.
Ich okres największej popularności w Holandii przypadł na lata 1965–1967, ale wydawali płyty aż do 1969 roku. W ostatnich latach ich dziedzictwo wykracza poza Holandię, a zespół jest dziś uznawany za wyjątkowy przykład gatunku rocka garażowego. 

 W składzie: Wally Tax (wokal), Ronnie Splinter (gitara), Appie Rammers (gitara basowa), Tom Krabbendam (gitara), Leendert „Buzz” Busch (perkusja) i Frank Beek (gitara basowa w latach 1968–1969), zespół uosabiał Nederbeat, holenderskie podejście do muzyki beatowej, stworzone po brytyjskiej inwazji. W przeciwieństwie do wielu europejskich zespołów inspirowanych Beatlesami, The Outsiders inspirowali się bardziej surowymi brytyjskimi formacjami, takimi jak Pretty Things (którzy często koncertowali w Holandii) i The Rolling Stones.  

The Outsiders supportowali The Rolling Stones podczas ich drugiego holenderskiego koncertu 26 marca 1966 roku w 's-Hertogenbosch. The Outsiders wydali trzy albumy długogrające: „Outsiders” i zbiór singli „Songbook” w 1967 roku oraz „C.Q.” w 1968 roku. Ten ostatni sprzedawał się słabo po premierze, ale obecnie jest uważany za arcydzieło rocka psychodelicznego i garażowego. Zespół wydał również trzynaście singli, w tym „Summer Is Here” z 1967 roku, który dotarł do pierwszej dziesiątki holenderskiej listy przebojów.  

Ich debiutancki album, zatytułowany po prostu „Outsiders”, zawierał jedną stronę nagrań studyjnych, a drugą nagrań koncertowych, również dobrze sprzedawał się w tym okresie. Co nietypowe dla tamtych czasów, zespół nigdy nie nagrał żadnych coverów. Choć wiele holenderskich zespołów popowych tamtej epoki, m.in. Tee-Set („Ma Belle Amie”), Shocking Blue („Venus”) i George Baker Selection („Little Green Bag”), odniosło sukcesy w Stanach Zjednoczonych pod szyldem wytwórni Colossus (co zaowocowało, jak to niektórzy znawcy muzyki żartobliwie nazywają, „holenderską inwazją”), to Outsiders nie mogli powtórzyć tego sukcesu, ponieważ ich płyty nigdy nie zostały wydane w tym kraju.
