Light Records

Light Records to amerykańska wytwórnia gospel założona w 1966r w Waco w Teksasie przez Ralpha Carmichaela jako joint venture z Word Records.Ta ostatnia jako że była pod ręką została dystrybutorem płyt wytwórni.Trwało to do 1982r,gdy obowiązki te przejęła Elektra.

Na początku dla wytwórni nagrywał zespół Carmichaela,Carmichael Young People, Ralph Carmichael's 102 Strings i jego córka Kim Carmichael.Inni wykonawcy nagrywajacy dla tej wytworni to Jimmy Durante i Thurl Ravenscroft.Wytwórnia szybko bo już w 1968r skierowała się gu gospel,podpisujac kontrakt z laureatami Grammy-Andrae Crouch & the Disciples.Wkrótce po nich do labelu dołączyli inni artyści tego nurtu-The Archers, The Winans, Walter Hawkins, Tramaine Hawkins, i Bob Bailey.

Carmichal wykupił od Word część udziałów Light/Lexicon w 1980r,po tym jak ABC/CapCities przejęła Word w 1974r.Light Records z kolei zostało sprzedane dla Platinum Entertainment w 1993r.Po bankructwie tej ostatniej w 2001r,zmieniono nazwę na Compendia Music Group,w ramach której Light kontynuowała działalność jako wytwórnia black gospel.W 2004r Compendia zostało wykupione przez Sheridan Square Entertainment.
