Ray Noble- ur. 17.12.1903r Brighton/Anglia-zm.2.04.1978 Londyn .Jego kariera przebiegała dziwnie.Najbardziej ceniony jako kompozytor takich utworów jak, "The Very Thought of You" "I Hadn't Anyone Till You" "The Touch of Your Lips" "Goodnight Sweetheart" i "Cherokee".Był znanym liderem orkiestry w latach 30-tych,ale nigdy nie wykorzystał swojego potencjału na tym polu.Mimo klasycznego wykształcenia w klasie fortepianu,bardziej interesowała go muzyka taneczna.Wygrał konkurs na aranżację dla big bandu organizowanym przez Melody Maker w Anglii.Został dyrektorem muzycznym w wytwórni HMV w latach 1929-1934 i kierował nagraniami swojej New Mayfair Dance Orchestra [1930-1934],z którą często śpiewał Al Bowlly.Grała ona muzykę taneczną z wpływami jazzu.Budując swoją popularność w 1935r wyjeżdża do Stanów Zjednoczonych,gdzie kieruje swoją orkiestrą często występując w Rainbow Room.W skład jego bandu w tym czasie wchodzili minn.trębacz i aranżer Glenn Miller , Bud Freeman, Pee Wee Erwin, Charlie Spivak, Johnny Mintz, Claude Thornhill i Will Bradley.Po rozwiązaniu orkiestry w 1937r zostaje prezenterem radiowym,prowadząc programy komediowe w których często prowadził big band aż do połowy lat 50-tych.
