Pierwsze single, "Hostage" i "Lady Of The Night", nagrała dla monachijskiej wytwórni Oasis. Jej właściciel, producent i kompozytor Giorgio Moroder, był też autorem "Love To Love You Baby". Orgiastyczne westchnienia i jęki wokalistki, wsparte hipnotyczną, dyskotekową aranżacją Morodera podbiły w 1975 r. cały świat za pośrednictwem USA, gdzie singel wydała wytwórnia Casablanca Neila Bogarta (syna sławnego aktora). W 1977 r. Summer trafiła na szczyt listy brytyjskiej utrzymanym w podobnej konwencji utworem "I Feel Love". Sukces przyniósł jej też "Down Deep Inside" - temat tytułowy z filmu "The Deep" ("Głębia", reż. Peter Yates).
Robert Kline, u boku równie przebojowych The Commodores). Nagrodzony Oscarem temat "Last Dance" przyniósł wokalistce kolejną "złotą płytę", a lata 1978-1979 dalsze singlowe bestsellery: "Mac Arthur Park" Jima Webba (wylansowany przez Richarda Harrisa w 1968 r.), "Hot Stuff" "Bad Girls" i "No More Tears (Enough Is Enough)". wykonywany w duecie z Barbrą Streisand.
W latach 80. pojawiła się na listach przebojów tylko w temacie "Love Is In Control (Finger On The Trigger)", którego producentem był Quincy Jones. W 1987 r. przypomniała się amerykańskiej i europejskiej publiczności podczas trasy koncertowej. Autorami i realizatorami tematów z nagranego w 1989 r. albumu Another.
