Mel McDaniel

Mel McDaniel urodził się w Checotah w stanie Oklahoma 6 września 1942r, ale dorastał w Okmulgee . W młodości wykazywał zainteresowanie muzyką, uczył się gry na trąbce od czwartej klasy, a następnie sięgnął po gitarę. Jako nastolatek grał w lokalnych zespołach, a podczas nauki w szkole średniej pracował jako muzyk w klubach Tulsy. Nagrał kilka singli dla niektórych lokalnych wytwórni, a następnie postanowił spróbować swego szczęścia w w Ohio, a następnie w Nashville pod koniec lat 60-tych.

Jego głównym celem w stolicy country było odniesienie sukcesu jako kompozytor country. Pracował na stacji benzynowej, aby zarobić na życie, jednocześnie próbując zdobyć uwagę wydawców muzycznych i artystów.Nie przyniosło to powodzenia,stąd jego decyzja o przeprowadzce do Anchorage na Alasce,gdzie szybko stał się szanowanym artystą country.

W 1976r powraca do Nashville,gdzie podpisuje kontrakt płytowy z wytwórnią Capitol.Jego singiel "Have a Dream on Me" cieszył się niewielkim powodzeniem,ale prawdziwe sukcesy przyszły w latach 80-tych.Jego największy hit to piosenka "Baby's Got Her Blue Jeans On" nagrana w 1984r i nominowana do nagrody Grammy.McDaniel kontynuje występy w latach 90 i 2000-ych zwykle w Grand Ole Opry.
