Ta niepozorna blondynka stała się ucieleśnieniem ery jazzu,a wiele jej piosenek zawiera w tytule słowo "jazz" ,jak chociażby "When I Hear That Jazz Band Play","Jazz Baby", "Take Me to the Land of Jazz" i "I'm A Jazz Vampire".
wędrownych trupach i vodewilach.Do Nowego Jorku ściągnął ją znany
broadwa'owski producent Charles B. Dillingham,proponując jej niewielką
rolę w wystawianym w Globe Theater musicalu "Stop! Look!
W 1928r zagrała w ośmiominutowym filmie Marion Harris, Songbird of Jazz,grając też póżniej w pełnometrażowych filmach,"Gems of M-G-M" z 1930r i "Trouble Ahead"
w 1936r.W 1931r wyjechała do Londynu,gdzie ostatecznie postanowiła się
osiedlić na stałe,zostając gwiazdą tamtejszych kabaretów [London's Café
de Paris] i występując w radiowych show BBC.Nagrywała do 1934r dla Decca
i Columbii,by przejść na artystyczną emeryturę wychodząc zamąż za
angielskiego agenta teatralnego Leonarda Urry.W 1944r powraca do Stanów
Zjednoczonych i tragicznie ginie podczas pożaru we własnym łóżku od
palącego się papierosa.
