Studyjny zespół nagrywał też z The Undisputed Truth i The Temptations, zaś po dokooptowaniu wokalistki Gwen Dickey podjął działalność indywidualną.
Nazwę Rose Royce przyjął w 1976 r., nagrawszy popularną muzykę do filmu "Car Wash" ("Myjnia", reż. Michael Schultz). Motyw tytułowy doczekał się "platynowej płyty". Dwa inne tematy z filmu trafiły do pierwszej dziesiątki przebojów rhythm'n'bluesowych, a wkrótce potem grupą zainteresował się znany producent Norman Whitfield. Nagrane w jego wytwórni nastrojowe utwory "Wishing On A Star" i "Love Don't Live Here" (oba z 1978 r.) pomimo chłodnego przyjęcia w USA, weszły na trzecie miejsca listy brytyjskiej. Podobny los spotkał rok później temat "Is It Love You're After".
Ukoronowaniem brytyjskiej kariery grupy był sukces wydanego w 1980 r. albumu Greatest Hits. Późniejsze nagrania trafiały jedynie w dolne rejony list przebojów.
