Amy Grant

Amy Grant, (ur. 25 XI 1960 w Augusta, USA), wokalistka, autorka piosenek, aranżer, jedna z najwybitniejszych przedstawicielek muzyki gospel i nurtu rocka chrześcijańskiego. Jest także wybitną gwiazdą muzyki pop.

Wychowała się i dorastała w Nashwille, gdzie debiutowała w wieku 15 lat albumem Amy Grant. W 1982 poślubiła kompozytora Gary'ego Chapmana, który pod koniec lat 80. zaczął pisać dla niej piosenki. W 1982 za album Age to Age uzyskała nagrodę Grammy w kategorii - najlepszej wokalistki gospel. Sukces ten powtórzyła jeszcze w 1984 (za Straight Away) oraz w 1985 (za Unguarded).
Począwszy od tej płyty zaczęta zmieniać repertuar na bardziej popowy. Do najpopularniejszych piosenek Grant należą: Angels, Find a Way, Wise Up, The Next Time I Fall, wykonany w duecie z Peterem Ceterą z grupy - Chicago, Baby Baby, Every Heartbeat i That's What Love Is For.

W 1990 podpisała kontrakt fonograficzny z wydawnictwem A&M;. i jeszcze bardziej oddaliła się od muzyki gospel.

Wydany w 1991r album Heart in Motion szybko osiągnął multiplatynowy status. Od wielu lat poświęca czas i zasoby finansowe na działalność humanitarną, za którą była wielokrotnie uhonorowana, m.in. przez American Cancer Society, Nashville Chamber of Commerce i Pax Christi.
