Randy Travis

Randy Travis (ur . 4 maja 1959r w Marshville w Północnej Karolinie , właściwie Randy Bruce Traywick ) to amerykański piosenkarz country , autor tekstów i aktor.
W wieku ośmiu lat Randy zaczął grać na gitarze, na co wpływ miał jego kochający kraj ojciec. Dopiero dwa lata później po raz pierwszy wystąpił razem ze swoim bratem Rickym jako duet Traywick Brothers . Obaj jednak zaczęli pić wcześnie i często wchodzili w konflikt z prawem. Walki, jazda pod wpływem alkoholu i narkomanii były na porządku dziennym. W wieku 16 lat Randy przeprowadził się do Charlotte , gdzie przyciągnął uwagę podczas konkursu talentów. Właścicielka baru, Lib Hatcher, polubiła jego muzykę i zaproponowała mu pracę jako pomocnika w kuchni. Ponadto istniały możliwości pojawienia się w ich zakładzie. W Charlotte przynajmniej we wczesnych latach często dochodziło do kłopotów z policją.

Lib Hatcher ostatecznie została jego menedżerem. Z wielkim zaangażowaniem pozyskała dla niego w 1978 roku pierwszy kontrakt płytowy. Nagrał dwa single, ale nie były one zbyt udane. W 1982 roku Hatcher przejęła Palace Club w Nashville . Randy znów pracował w kuchni i miał sporadyczne występy. Jego menedżer sfinansował pierwszy album, który został wydany pod nazwą Randy Ray i został sprzedany głównie gościom klubu. Rok 1985 był pierwszym kontraktem z dobrze znaną wytwórnią Warner Brothers . Pod nową nazwą Randy Travis został wydany singiel On The Other Hand  w tym samym roku. Osiągnęła przyzwoite średnie miejsce na listach przebojów. Następny singiel z 1982 roku znalazł się nawet w pierwszej dziesiątce. W rezultacie ponownie promowano On The Other Hand , a tym razem singiel zajął pierwsze miejsce, a w 1986 roku wydał swój pierwszy album dla Warner Brothers: Storm of Live . Był imponującej jakości, otrzymał doskonałe recenzje i sprzedał się w ponad 3 milionach egzemplarzy.

Randy Travis stał się główną nadzieją muzyki country, która dryfowała w ostatnich latach w płytkich wodach pop. Ze swoim stylem śpiewu przypominającym Lefty Frizzella lub Johna Andersona , był jednym z neo-tradycjonalistów, którzy zainicjowali zwrot w drugiej połowie lat 80-tych. Jego drugi album, Always & Forever , był jeszcze bardziej udany niż pierwszy. Pod koniec dekady Travis miał siedem kolejnych   # 1. Otrzymał wiele nagród, w tym dwie nagrody Grammy i kilka nagród CMA . Jego sukcesom sprzyjał także silny materiał  , na którym mógł się oprzeć. W 1991 roku Lib i Randy pobrali się. Jego zwycięska passa trwała. Wzburzona odnowa muzyki country przyniosła nowe gwiazdy, takie jak Garth Brooks czy Alan Jackson , co pchnęło go w cień. Niektóre płyty stały się porażkami. Po przełomie tysiącleci nagrał kilka albumów zorientowanych religijnie, co również przyniosło mu duże uznanie. Występował także w różnych filmach.
