Piosenkarz,kompozytor,producent Clarence Reid podobnie jak David Bowie czy gwiazda funka George Clinton jest osobowością o różnorodnych uzdolnieniach.Urodził się 14 lutego 1945r w Cochran/Georgia i był jednym z pierwszych wokalistów tzw. southern soulu.Nagrał kilka niewielkich przebojów dla wytwórni TK ,której szefem był Henry Stone,ale jego płyty tłoczone były z nadrukiem Alston Records,minn. "Nobody but You Babe" (#7 R&B Chart), "Good Old Days" czy "Funky Party" [#99 Billboard Chart w 1974r].
Był autorem wielu przebojów Betty Wright-"Girls Can't Do What the Guys Do","Clean Up Woman" [złota płyta],"Baby Sitter" i "Let Me Be Your Lovemaker".Dla Gwen McCrae napisał i wyprodukował hit "Rockin' Chair".
Pod pseudonimem Blowfly wydał na poły pornograficzny materiał.Pomagał Richardowi Finchowi w pracy w TK Records i organizował występy Harry Wayne "K.C." Casey'a w junkanoo [ulicznej paradzie].Obaj wymienieni stali się póżniej rdzeniem supergrupy KC and the Sunshine Band.
