Eddy Grant

 Eddy Grant (właśc. Edmond Montague Grant; 15.03.1948r, Plaisance, Gujana)- voc, k, g, b, dr, kompozytor, autor tekstów, producent nagrań.
Syn ciemnoskórego trębacza z Gujany. W końcu lat sześćdziesiątych odniósł w Wielkiej Brytanii sukces z zespołem Equals (Baby Come Back, Viva Bobby Joe, Black Skin Blue-Ęyed Boys). Na początku lat siedemdziesiątych otworzył w Londynie studio nagrań Coach House oraz założył firmę płytową Ice. Zaopiekował się jako producent m.in. grupami The Pioneers, 96 Degrees i Indusive.

 

Zaczął też z wielkim powodzeniem nagrywać płyty autorskie. Przedstawił nowoczesny repertuar taneczny, inspirowany rock'n'rollem, soulem, a przede wszystkim muzyką karaibską. Śpiewał o miłości (np. Do You Feel My Love?, Can't Get Enough Of You, I Don't Wanna Dance, Dance Party, Come Along To My Place), ale też o problemach, cierpieniach i upokorzeniach kolorowej społeczności krajów Europy Zachodniej (np. Living On The Front Line, Police On My Back, Electric Avenue, Blood Money).
 

W latach osiemdziesiątych osiadł w St. Philip na Barbados. Otworzył tam studio nagrań Blue Wave, a wkrótce stanął na czele firmy fonograficznej o tej samej nazwie. W 1985 zaprezentował się polskiej publiczności.
