Zdobyła popularność melodyjnymi piosenkami w tradycyjnym stylu, np. Morning Train (Nine To Five), Modern Girl, One Man Woman, When He Shines, filmową For Your Eyes Only, You Could Have Been With Me, śpiewana w duecie z Kennym ROGERSEM We've Got Tonight, Telefone (Long Distance Love Affair) oraz Strut.
W połowie lat osiemdziesiątych nawiązała współpracę z PRINCE'EM.
