Sandy Posey

Właśc. Martha Sharp, ur. w 1945 r. w Jasper w stanie Alabama, USA. Jako nastolatka przeniosła się do Memphis, gdzie zadebiutowała w roli wokalistki studyjnej, odkryta przez producenta Chipsa Momana, który zachęcił ją do sprawdzenia się w roli solistki i autorki piosenek.
 W 1966 r. jej singel, "Born A Woman", dotarł na dwunaste miejsce amerykańskiej listy przebojów, zawdzięczając popularność dosadnemu, odbiegającemu od tradycyjnych schematów ballad country tekstowi: "Urodziłaś się babą więc będziesz bita nie raz" (If you're born a woman, you're born to be hurt).
Do pierwszych dwudziestek amerykańskich i brytyjskich przebojów trafiło też kolejne nagranie Posey, " Single Girl". Tematykę kobiecą kontynuowały single "What A Woman In Love Won't Do", "I Take It Back" i "Are You Never Coming Home" - wszystkie z 1967 r.
Piosenkarka towarzyszyła Elvisowi Presleyowi podczas sesji nagraniowej w studiach Moman's American, wykonując wraz z nim przebojowy temat "Mama Liked The Roses" i koncertując u boku gwiazdora w Las Vegas w 1969 r. W latach siedemdziesiątych styl wokalny i tematyka piosenek Sandy okazały się zbyt hermetyczne dla rynku muzyki pop i wokalistka ograniczyła się do nagrań w klasycznym nurcie country.
