Real Thing

Brytyjska grupa z Liverpoolu sięgająca korzeniami do eksplozji brzmienia Mersey w latach 60. Jej wokalista Eddie Amoo debiutował w zespole The Chants, którego błyskotliwe beatowe single zdobyły zasłużone uznanie, choć żaden z nich nie trafił na listy przebojów.
Zmiany wytwórni nie przynosiły efektu, aż wreszcie The Chants zdecydowali się porzucić pechową nazwę. Jako The Real Thing zadebiutowali w 1976 r. singlem "You To Me Are Everything", trafiając od razu na szczyt brytyjskiej Top 20. Kolejne nagranie "Can't Get By Without You" utrzymane było w podobnej popowo-soulowej manierze, przyjmowanej coraz chłodniej przez publiczność.
Krótkotrwały powrót na listy bestsellerów nastąpi} w 1979 r. za sprawą inspirowanego filmem "Gwiezdne wojny" tematu "Can You Feel The Force", popularnym w kręgach bywalców brytyjskich dyskotek. Późniejszym nagraniom The Real Thing wiodło się gorzej, choć remiksy dwóch pierwszych przebojów powróciły do Top 10 w dziesięć lat po ich oryginalnych wersjach.
