Anne Murray

Ur. 20.06.1946 r. w Springhill w prowincji Nowa Szkocja w Kanadzie.
W 1964 r. przekonano ją, by wzięła udział w przesłuchaniach do prezentowanego przez regionalną telewizję programu "Sing Along Jubilee". Murray prezentowała styl będący mieszaniną muzyki folk i country rocka, choć równie dobrze czuła się śpiewając rhythm'n'bluesa i pop.
Wydany w 1968 r. nakładem wytwórni Arc Records album What About Me wzbudził wystarczająco spore zainteresowanie, by skłonić szefów Capitol Records do podpisania z wokalistką długoterminowego kontraktu. Pochodzący z longplaya This Was My Way singel "Snowbird", z niezwykłą wersją utworu Gene'a MacLellana trafił do Top 10 listy bestsellerów tygodnika "Billboard" i był największym brytyjskim przebojem artystki. Pomimo regularnych występów w telewizyjnym programie Glena Campbella "Goodtime Hour" dalsze propozycje Murray - w tym utwór tytułowy z albumu Talk It Over In The Morning - sprzedawały się dość słabo. Dopiero w 1973 r. kompozycja Kenny'ego Logginsa "Danny's Song" w jej interpretacji, stała się wielkim przebojem.
Z samym Logginsem Annę zaśpiewała w duecie 11 lat później, rejestrując utwór "Nobody Loves Me Like You Do", który trafił na szczyt listy przebojów muzyki country. Powróciła w 1978 r. z kompozycją "You Needed Me", która przyniosła jej nagrodę Grammy. Mimo że nowe wersje utworu Bobby'ego Darina "Things" i "Daydream Believer" z repertuaru The Monkees przeznaczone były na rynek pop, największe sukcesy odnosiła Murray u wielbicieli muzyki country. Piosenka "He Thinks I Still Care" jako pierwsza w jej karierze trafiła na szczyt listy przebojów właśnie tej muzyki. Pomiędzy zarejestrowaniem utworów "Just Another Woman In Love", "Could I Have This Dance" (z filmu "Miejski kowboj"), "A Littie Good News" (w 1983 r.) i wielu innych przebojów country, artystka znalazła czas, by nagrać album z piosenkami dla dzieci Hippo In My Tub, będący częścią jej działalności dla kanadyjskiego oddziału fundacji Save The Chiidren. W 1989 r. w Springhill otwarto Annę Murray Center nazwane jej imieniem w uznaniu niestrudzonej działalności w licznych organizacjach charytatywnych,
