Three Degrees

Amerykańskie żeńskie trio wokalne wylansowane przez producenta i kompozytora Richarda Barretta. Zadebiutowało w 1965 r. przebojowym singlem "Gee Baby (Fm Sorry)" nagranym w składzie Fayette Pickney, Linda Turner i Shirley Porter (wszystkie z Filadelfii w stanie Pensylwania). Przebojem stał się też temat "Look In My Eyes". jednak na następny ("Maybe" z repertuaru The Chantels) trzeba było czekać aż do 1970 r.

 

Tymczasem Turner i Porter zastąpiły Sheila Ferguson i Valerie Holiday. Złoty okres Three Degrees łączył się z nagraniami dla wytwórni Philadelphia International. Wraz z grupą MFSB wprowadziły na szczyt list amerykańskich temat "TSOP" z popularnego telewizyjnego programu "Soul Train". Międzynarodową popularność przyniosły też tercetowi single "Year Of Decision" i "When Will I See You Again?" (oba z 1974 r.).
 

Spektakularne estradowe popisy Three Degrees podbiły publiczność brytyjską, czego efektem były wysokie pozycje singli "Take Good Care Of Yourself (1975 r.) oraz "Woman In Love" i "My Simple Heart" (oba z 1979 r.). Na nagranym w 1976 r. albumie Standing Up For Love pojawiła się Helen Scott. Kontrakt z wytwórnią Ariola zaowocował zwrotem w kierunku mało ambitnych estradowych popisów urodziwych piosenkarek. Do ich fanów należał brytyjski następca tronu książę Karol, nic więc dziwnego, że Three Degrees w latach 80. osiadły na stałe w Wielkiej Brytanii, prezentując swoje wdzięki w rewiach i nocnych klubach.
