Astronauts

Obok grupy Trashmen z Minnesoty,Astronauts z Boulder ze stanu Kolorado byli jedną z najbardziej znaczących grup grających surfa na środkowym wschodzie USA.Założony w 1960 roku jako Stormtroopers   kilka lat później podpisał kontrakt z wytwórnią RCA, starając się konkurować z sukcesem Beach Boys.

 

Grupa odniosła skromny i krótki sukces, dopóki przybycie Beatlesów do Stanów Zjednoczonych nie doprowadziło do spadku ich popularności. Członkami byli Rich Fifield, Dennis Lindsey i Bob Demmon na gitarach, Stormy Patterson na basie i perkusista Jim Gallagher.

Nagrywając kolejne single i albumy zyskiwali coraz większą lokalną popularność,lansując tylko jeden ogólnokrajowy hit "Baja".Pisząc niewiele własnego materiału posiłkowali się kompozycjami znanych autorów jak minn. Lee Hazelwood [kompozytor "Baja"], Dick Dale i Henry Mancini.
Grupa wyróżniała się świetnym opanowaniem instrumentów,gorzej natomiast wypadała w warstwie wokalnej.
