Później podpisała kontrakt z firmą Vee Jay Records i nagraniami "You're No Good" (z 1963 r.) i "The Shoop Shoop Song (It's In His Kiss)" zdefiniowała swój styl, określony jako pop-soul. Potwierdziła to nagranym w duecie z Jerrym Butlerem singlem "Let It Be Me" (z 1964 r.), ale jej najlepszym utworem była dynamiczna piosenka Vana McCoya "Getting Mighty Crowded".
Upadek wytwórni Vee Jay zachwiał jej karierą, a krótki związek z ABC Records okazał się bezproduktywny. Jednak nagrana w 1969 r. piosenka "There'll Come A Time" doszła do 2. miejsca w notowaniach rhythm and bluesowych. Z nabranym w ten sposób impetem weszła w lata 70-te, dokonując kolejnych nagrań dla wytwórni UNI i Fantasy Record.
Ostatni notowany na listach singel Betty - "True Love (You Took My Heart)" ukazał się w 1978 r. W 1991 r. własną wersję "The Shoop Shoop Song" nagrała Cher, umieszczając ją na samym szczycie list przebojów.
