Billy Thorpe and The Aztecs

Billy Thorpe urodził się w Anglii, w Manchesterze, w 1946 roku. Jako mały chłopiec przeniósł się wraz z rodziną do australijskiego Brisbane. Tam w wieku 17 lat założył grupę The Aztecs, która była największą rockową formacją na Antypodach w latach 60. Zespół zdobył popularność między innymi własną wersją "Over The Rainbow" Judy Garland, pochodzącą z filmu "Czarnoksiężnik z krainy Oz". Na początku lat 70. grupa wylansowała swój największy autorski przebój "Most People I Know Think That I'm Crazy".

W 1979 roku Billy nagrał z myślą o rynku amerykańskim płytę "Children Of The Sun", na której zawarł materiał będący połączeniem metalu i techno. Współpracował też z Mickiem Fleetwoodem z Fleetwood Mac. Razem nagrali album "Zoo".

 Niedługo przed śmiercią Thorpe poinformował na swojej stronie, że pracuje nad nowym materiałem. Gitarzysta zasłynął również jako gwiazda telewizji australijskiej. W połowie lat 60. prowadził w niej popularny program "It's All Happening". Co ciekawe, wraz z kolegą z The Aztecs, Tonym Barberem, stworzył firmę produkującą zabawki dla dzieci. Zamawiały je największe firmy, z Disney, Hasboro i Universal na czele.
