Bobby Bland

Bobby Blue Bland, (ur. 27.01.1930 w Rosemont, Tennessee, USA), wokalista o charyzmatycznym, głębokim głosie, gwiazda murzyńskiej muzyki popularnej.

W 1950 utworzył w Memphis grupę Beale Streeters, w której grali także B.B. King, Johnny Ace i Roscoe Gordon. Zespół nagrywał - z producentem Samem Phillipsem - single dla wytwórni Chess i Modern, zaś Bland solowe nagrania zrealizował dla wydawnictwa Duke. Powołanie do wojska przerwało karierę wokalisty do 1955r. W pełni dojrzały wokalnie zadebiutował z zespołem saksofonisty Billa Harveya nagraniem It's My Life Baby.

W 1957 jedno z nagrań Farther Cip on the Road stało się ogólnokrajowym przebojem. W następnych latach popularność zyskały: Little Boy Blue, I'll Take Care of You, Turn on Your Love Light, Call on Me i kilkanaście innych.

Kingiem. Repertuar Blanda ewoluował od rhythm and bluesa i bluesa w stronę soulu i muzyki pop. Nowy wydawca zapewnił wokaliście swobodę artystyczną, a Bland powrócił do tradycyjnego brzmienia muzyki soul lat 60-tych.
