Największymi przebojami fotogeniczego piosenkarza były piosenki "Wild One", "Sway" i "Volare", wszystkie z 1960 r., oraz utwór "Forget Him" napisany i wyprodukowany w Wielkiej Brytanii przez Tony'ego Hatcha. W 1963 r. Rydell, mając ambicje zostania artystą wszechstronnym, zagrał w filmie "Bye Bye Birdie", a wkrótce związał się, początkowo odnosząc sukcesy, ze środowiskiem kabaretowym.
Fala brytyjskich zespołów z połowy lat 60., przekreśliła dalszą karierę Bobby'ego Rydella. Artysta nagrywał później bez powodzenia dla wytwórni Capitol, Reprise, RCA, Perception i Pickwick International, kontynuując potem występy w klubach.
