SHEILA - (prawdziwe nazwisko Anny Chancel) -piosenkarka francuska urodzona 16 sierpnia, 1945 w Créteil.Największe sukcesy odnosiła w latach 60 i 70-tych jako piosenkarka,a póżniej jako frontmenka zespołu disco -Sheila (and) B. Devotion.Sprzedała ponad 70mln płyt i to ją klasyfikuje na czele francuskich wykonawców wspomnianego okresu.Jej pseudonim wziął nazwę od jej pierwszego singla "Sheila",coveru utworu Tommy'ego Roe.Występowała też w filmach.
 
Jako nastolatka zainteresowała się tańcem,ale kontuzja kostek nie pozwoliła jej w pełni oddać się temu zajęciu.Na początku lat 60-tych śpiewa w rockowym zespole Guitar Brothers. Swoją karierę rozpoczęła w roku 1962 po tym jak zwrócił na nią uwagę Claude Carre`re, francuski producent muzyczny i autor piosenek.Ta współpraca trwała ponad 20 lat i skończyła się w 1995r,gdy wygrała z nim proces o prawo do tantiem.Kilka dni po podpisaniu kontraktu nagrywa EP-kę "With You".Jej pierwszym przebojem była piosenka "L'école est finie" (School is over) sprzedana w ponad milionowym nakładzie.W ciągu jednej nocy staje się idolką młodej publiczności.Jej utwory zahaczają o modny wówczas rock'n'roll ale teksty są bardzo zachowawcze.Carre`re stworzył obraz młodej rozwichrzonej nieco dziewczyny,ale jednocześnie mądrej.W filmie Eight Women , Ludivine Sagnier z 1963r śpiewa przebojową piosenkę "Papa t'es plus dans l'coup" (Daddy, you are not in on it anymore).W 1966r gra w filmie "Bang bang" z którego pochodzi jej hit "Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down)".
 
W 1967r mając 21 lat staje się bohaterką autobiografii "Sheila par Sheila",gdzie przedstawia początki kariery.Jej życie jest śledzone przez czasopisma i magazyny młodzieżowe,a wszystkim zarządza Carrere .W 1968r od początku kariery ma na swym koncie 6 albumów i ponad 20 małych płyt,kochającą ją publiczność.Jedynym mankamentem jest jej niechęć do dłuższych tras koncertowych.
 
W 1977r wraca na scenę jako frontmenka zespołu Sheila and B. Devotion i zmienia swój styl na modną wówczas muzykę disco.Zaczyna śpiewać po angielsku i znowu odnosi sukces z piosenkami "Spacer" (z albumu King of the World, wyprodukowanego przez Chic),"Love Me Baby" i własną wersją "Singin' in the Rain".Po zakończeniu współpracy z Carrere,jej dyrektorem muzycznym został Yves Martin,kompozytor i producent i przyszły mąż.
 
Jej nowe piosenki zostają krytycznie przyjęte,stąd jej decyzja o wycofaniu się ze sceny muzycznej w okresie od 1989 do 1998r.Sheila jest ciągle popularna,występując z dużym sukcesem w paryskiej Olimpii w 1998 i 2002r .W 2006r ukazał się 18-to płytowy box z ponad 400 piosenkami,zawierający jej dotąd nie publikowane utwory,alternatywne wersje,duety i zapisy telewizyjnych występów.
