Modern Romance

Brytyjska grupa punkowa założona przez byłych członków Leyton Buzzards. Po rozpadnięciu się pierwszego zespołu Geoff Deanne i David Jaymes próbowali szczęścia w londyńskich klubach. Wraz z menedżerem Brianem O ’Donoughue założyli; firimę Business Art Production.

Nagrany przez WEA singel „Tonight" zawiódł oczekiwania i w 1980r duet postanowił przekształcić się w zespół w składzie: Deanne (ur. 10.12.1954r; śpiew), Jaymes (ur. 28.11.1954r; bas), jego brat Robbie Jaymes (ur. 3.10.1962r; instrumenty klawiszowe), Paul Gendler (ur. 11.08.1960r; gitara) i Andy Kyriacou (ur. 19.04,1958; perkusja - poprzednio w zespołach Linx i Central Line). Grupie towarzyszył John Du Prez na trąbce.

Dzięki klubowym koneksjom zespół wszedł w krąg wykonawców salsy, która latem w 1981r stała się modna. Efektem był przebój „Everybody Salsa", a po nim kolejne: „AyAy Ay Ay Moosey”, „Queen Of The Rapping Scene” i „Cherry Pink And The Blossom White”. Zdegustowany produkowanymi ze sztancy  tematami Deanne porzucił zespół, by działać na własną rękę i komponować dla klubowej grupy Divine. W jego miejsce wszedł były strażak Michael J. Mullins (ur. 9.11.1956r).

 Zmiana nie zablokowała potoku przebojów („Best Years Of Our Life”, „High Life”, „Walking In The Rain” z 1983r). Porażka „Tarzan Boy" (z repertuaru grupy Baltimora) zapowiadała koniec kariery i wkrótce drogi członków Modern Romance się rozeszły. David Jaymes wydał w 1988r solowy singel, Deanne pisze komediowe scenariusze, a John Du Prez mieszka w Hollywood, gdzie gra na trąbce w filmowych dźwiękowych ścieżkach.
