Joe Simon

 Urodzony 2 września 1943r w Simmesport/Louisiana,amerykański wokalista rhythm'n'bluesowy o charakterystycznym zawodzącym barytonie i specyficznym countrowym frazowaniu.Swoją osobą łączy dwa style z oszałamiającym powodzeniem w latach 60-tych,adaptację typowego repertuaru country spod znaku Nashville z soulowym brzmieniem.

 

Rozpoczął swoją karierę nagraniową w Buy Arena,ale wkrótce zmienił miejsce ,najpierw na Muscle Shoals,gdzie nagrywał dla Vee-Jay Records,a póżniej na Nashville podpisując kontrakt z wytwórnią znanego disc dżokeja Johna Richbourga-Sound Stage 7 w 1966r.
 

Łatwość z jaką penetrował materiał country,wpłynęło na to ,że znalazł swoje prawdziwe powołanie co zaowocowało takimi hitami jak,"Nine Pound Steel," "(You Keep Me) Hangin' On," i #1 na listach rhythm'n'bluesowych "The Chokin' Kind" autorstwa Harlana Howarda.od 1970r współpracuje w Spring Records z duetem producentów, czarodziejów piosenki Kenny Gamble i Leonem Huffem ,dzięki którym odnosi kolejne sukcesy .Dowodem na to jest hit "Drowning in the Sea of Love" nagrany rok póżniej.
 

Próbuje się znależć się w erze disco w 1975r dwoma udanymi utworami "Get Down, Get Down (Get on the Floor)" i "Music in My Bones".Póżniej wycofuje się z muzycznego rynku poświęcając się kościołowi.
