Four Aces

The Four Aces jest amerykańskim męskim tradycyjnym kwartetem pop , popularnym od lat 50-tych. Przez ostatnie pół wieku, grupa zgromadziła wiele złotych płyt . Jej najpopularniejsze utwory to "Love is a Many-Splendored Thing", "Three Coins in the Fountain", " Stranger in Paradise ", " Tell Me Why " i "(It's No) Sin".Inne bestsellerowe single to m.in. " Shangri-La "," Perfidia" oraz "Sincerely". Oryginalni członkowie, odpowiedzialni za większość spopularyzowanych przez grupę utworów,to Al Alberts , Dave Mahoney, Lou Silvestri, i Rosario "Sod" Vaccaro.

Alberts uczęszczał na South Philadelphia High School, Temple University, i służył w marynarce wojennej , gdzie spotkał Mahoney'a. Pierwotnie Alberts śpiewał z Mahoney'em , a później doszli Sod Vaccaro na trąbce i Lou Silvestri na perkusji. Grali lokalnie w rejonie Filadelfii, gdzie Alberts założył własną wytwórnię płytową, Victoria Records , gdy nie mogli znaleźć dystrybutora swojej pierwszej płyty, "(It's No) Sin".Singiel sprzedał się w milionie egzemplarzy, a Decca Records wkrótce podpisała kontrakt z grupą, jako The Four Aces featuring Al Alberts.

Przed końcem roku ich debiutancki singiel dla tej wytwórni, "Tell Me Why", otarł się o szczyt list przebojów i sprzedał się jak poprzedni w milionie egzemplarzy. Kilka następnych singli trafiło do Top10 na początku lat 50-tych przed tym jak temat filmowy "Three Coins in the Fountain" został hitem numer jeden w 1954 roku. Innym tematem z filmu był "Love Is a Many-Splendored Thing",który spędził ponad miesiąc na szczycie listy Billboardu w 1955 roku.

Po wydaniu kilku singli w 1955 roku, Al Alberts, rok później opuścił grupę próbując zrobić karierę jako solista, ale nigdy nie znalazł się na listach przebojów. . Wraz z powstaniem rock & rolla,los Four Aces wydawał się przesądzony. Docierają do dolnych rejonów listy przebojów z piosenką "Bahama Mama" i "Rock and Rhapsody Roll" , ale nie udało się to po 1959 roku.Al Alberts nadal występował aż do lat 90-tych,z nową edycją grupą.
Alberts został on zastąpiony przez wokalistę Freda Diodati, który studiował na South Philadelphia High School kilka lat po Albertsie.

Ostatecznie wszyscy oryginalni członkowie grupy ją opuścili, zostawiając Diodati tworzenie nowego składu, który tworzył wspomniany Fred Diodati, Tony Alesi, Joe Giglio i Harry Heisler. Po prawie dziewiętnastu latach występów z grupą, Alesi zachorował,co zmusiło go do opuszczenia grupy.

Obecną konfigurację Aces tworzą Diodati, Joe Giglio, Harry Heisler i Danny Colingo. W 1975 roku sąd przyznał wspomnianym muzykom prawo do używania nazwy Four Aces. Założyciel zespołu, Al Alberts, zmarł z przyczyn naturalnych w dniu 27 listopada 2009 roku. Miał 87 lat.
