Christopher Cross

Właśc. Christopher Geppert, ur. 3.05.1951 w San Antonio w stanie Teksas (USA). Cross był członkiem heavy rockowej teksańskiej formacji Flash. Dzięki swym talentom kompozytorskim podpisał kontrakt z wytwórnią Warner Brothers Records.

Jego debiutancki album pełen był "gładkich" utworów rockowych idealnych do nadawania w radiu. Pochodziły z niego przeboje, takie jak "Ride Like The Wind" (numer 2. w USA; wystąpił na nim Michael McDonald), "Sailing" (numer 1. w USA), "Never Be The Same" i "Say You'll Be Mine". W 1981 Cross otrzymał pięć Nagród Grammy, m.in. za najlepszy album roku.
Cross był również współautorem tematu muzycznego "Best That You Can Do" z filmu Dudleya Moore'a "Arthur" z 1981. Zaśpiewał tam obok Carole Bayer Sager, Burta Bacharacha i Petera Allena. Piosenka ta weszła w USA na 1. miejsce list przebojów i - jako jedyne, nagranie Crossa - do Top 10 w Wielkiej Brytanii. Choć w kraju tym album Crossa doszedł do 14. miejsca najlepiej sprzedających się płyt, liczba sprzedanych singli dała mu tylko pozycję 48. ("Sailing").

Z drugiego albumu, Another Page (11. miejsce w USA, 4. w Wielkiej Brytanii), pochodził utwór "Think Of Laura", który w 1983 wszedł do Top 10 w USA. Wykorzystano go w serialu telewizyjnym "General Hospital". W późniejszych latach sprzedaż płyt Crossa spadła, co było znakiem utraty "wyczucia" kompozytorskiego lub popularności - albo obu jednocześnie. "Odświeżona" taneczna wersja "Ride Like The Wind" została nagrana przez East Side Beat pod koniec 1991 i dotarła do Top 10 w Wielkiej Brytanii.
