Ready for the World

Ready for the World jest amerykańskim zespołem R & B , funk i dance zespół z Flint , Michigan , który miał kilka   tanecznych hitów w połowie lat 80-tych .



Firma Ready for the World została założona przez Melvina Rileya i Gordona Stroziera. Grupa pierwotnie pojawiała się na pokazach talentów w liceach we Flint i została odkryta przez osobowość radiową The Electrifying Mojo w 1982 roku . Piosenka Tonight była regionalnym hitem w 1983 roku, a następnie undergroundowym hitem we Flint i Detroit . Wkrótce po podpisaniu kontraktu z MCA zespół zyskał ogólnokrajową sławę. Album Ready for the World odnotowano w Flint, Michigan w 1984 roku pod kierunkiem Bernarda Terry.

W skład grupy wchodzą wokalista i klawiszowiec Melvin Riley, Gordon Strozier (gitara), Gregory Potts (klawisze), Willie Triplett (perkusja, klawisze), John Eaton (gitara basowa) i Gerald Valentine (perkusja). Album Ready for the World został wydany w 1985 roku i zawierał tytuł Oh Sheila , który odniósł między innymi międzynarodowy sukces. stał się numerem 1 na listach przebojów w USA i numerem 11 w Niemczech. Piosenka Digital Display poszła dalej i osiągnęła 21 miejsce na liście Billboard Hot 100. W 1986 roku zespół wydał swój drugi album Long Time Coming . Singiel Love You Down osiągnął numer 9 w USA. Zespół wydał kolejne albumy w latach 90-tych, z którymi nie mógł już budować na poprzednich sukcesach.

Po rozpadzie zespołu w 1994 roku wokalista Riley zwrócił się ku karierze solowej i nagrał album w tym samym roku. W latach 1995-2000 zespół zebrał się, aby wydać dwa nieudane albumy. W 2004 roku ukazał się album   zawierający głównie miejskie ballady.
