Go-Betweens

Grupa australijska. Utworzona w 1977 w Brisbane. Debiutowała jako duet: Robert Forster - g i Grant McLennan - voc, g, k. Później stopniowo powiększała się: o Lindy Morrison - dr (w 1980), o Roberta Vickersa - b,k(w 1983) i o Amandę Brown - voc, viol, ob, k, g (w 1987). W 1990 rozwiązała się.

Grupa nie odniosła nigdy sukcesu komercyjnego, ale zdobyła szacunek i uznanie słuchaczy piosenkami i balladami o niezwykłej urodzie melodycznej i wysmakowanej kolorystyce, np. Two Steps Step Out, Dusty In Here, Cattie And Cane, Man 0'Sand To Girl 0'Sea, Bachelor Kiss, Part Company, In the Core Of A Flame, Right Here, The House That Jack Kerouac Built, The Streets Of Your Town. Wzorów szukała m.in. w twórczości Boba DYLANA, Phila OCHSA, The BYRDS, Patti SMITH, TELEYISION, The CURE i AZTEC CAMERA.
 

Płyta Very Quick on the eye-Brisbane,1981 zawierała wczesne próbne nagrania, a minialbum The Able Singles był zbiorem utworów z pierwszych singli, wydanych przez firmę Able (np. Lee Remick i People Say). Dyskografię uzupełnia m.in. amerykańska przekrojowa płyta "Metals And Shells" (PVC, 1985). Forster jako solista zadebiutował albumem "Danger In The Past" (Beggars Banquet, 1991).
