Chambers Brothers

Czterej bracia: George (ur. 26.09.1931 r.; bas), Willie (ur. 2.03.1938 r.; gitara), Lester (ur. 13.04.1940 r.; harmonijka) i Joe (ur. 22.08.1942 r.; gitara) urodzeni i wychowani w Lee County w stanie Mississipi, USA na początku lat 50. przeprowadzili się do Los Angeles. W ich pierwszych nagraniach wyraźnie słychać było wpływy korzeni gospels. Przykładem może tu być surowa interpretacja utworu "People Get Ready" Curtisa Mayfielda. W 1965 r. dołączył do nich perkusista Brian Keenan, a ich występ na Newport Folk Festival w tym samym roku zaznaczył zmianę stylu formacji na bardziej rhythm'n'bluesowy. Tytułowe nagranie z albumu Time Has Come Today z 1968 r., z ekscytującym, rozbudowanym fragmentem instrumentalnym, zdobyło duże uznanie kontrkulturowej białej publiczności. Bracia podtrzymywali swój hippisowski image, a część ich kolejnego albumu Love Peace And Happiness nagrana została "na żywo" w Filimore East, jednej z najbardziej prestiżowych scen rockowych.
Zespół utrzymał popularność na początku lat 70., ale nie modyfikując swego stylu nie potrafił zaskarbić sobie względów publiczności, gdy nastąpiła zmiana jej upodobań. W 1989 r. reaktywowali się, biorąc udział m.in. w koncercie na rzecz ofiar trzęsienia ziemi w San Francisco.
