Sammy Fain ur. 17.06.1902r N.York jako Samuel Feinberg zm.16.12.1989r w Los Angeles.
Wyjątkowo płodny kompozytor,który swoją karierę rozpoczął w 1920r i kontynuował ją do lat 70-tych.Współpracował z takimi autorami tekstów jak:Paul Francis Webster, E. Y. Harburg, Jack Yellen, Mitchell Parish i Lew Brown.Jego rodzina wkrótce przeprowadziła się po jego urodzinach do odległej o 60 mil od Nowego Jorku miejscowości Catskill,gdzie jego ojciec był kantorem w synagodze.Sammy uczył się gry na fortepianie,a będąc na uczelni sprzedawał skomponowane przez siebie piosenki.
Po ukończeniu uczelni przenosi się do Nowego Jorku i zaczyna pracę jako pianista w Jack Mills Publishing.Niedługo potem formuje wodewilowy duet z Artie Dunnem.W 1925r zakłada spółkę autorsko-kompozytorską z Alem Dubinem i pisze swój pierwszy hit "Nobody Knows What a Red-Headed Mama Can Do". Ale już w 1927r zawiązuje współpracę trwającą 17 lat, z innym młodym autorem tekstów -Irvingiem Kahalem.W latach 30-tych Fain i Kahal przenoszą się do Hollywood,pracując przy musicalach.
Sammy krótko pracuje dla Paramount,póżniej trafia do Warner Brothers,pracując między innymi nad "Piotrusiem Panem" i "Alicją w Krainie Czarów".Jego najbardziej znane piosenki z tego okresu to:"You Brought a New Kind of Love to Me", "When I Take My Sugar to Tea," , "That Old Feeling," , "Dear Hearts and Gentle People".
Po śmierci Kahala w 1942r współpracuje z Paulem Francisem Websterem,z którym pisze minn. "Secret Love",z filmu Calamity Jane,"Love Is A Many Spendored Thing","April Love" w wykonaniu Pata Boone'a czy "Tender is the Night", z filmu o tym samym tytule.
