Cary Gilbert

Cary Grant Gilbert (ur. 20 marca 1942 r. - zm. 15 lutego 1993 r.) Był amerykańskim tekściarzem, który pisał piosenki z Kennethem Gamble i Leonem Huffem w Philadelphia International Records w latach 70-tych XX wieku. Wśród piosenek, które współtworzył, znajdują się międzynarodowe hity nr 1 "Me and Mrs. Jones " oraz " Don't Leave Me This Way ".

Gilbert, szeroko znany jako "Hippy", dorastał w Camden w stanie New Jersey i zaprzyjaźnił się z Gamble'em i Huffem, gdy obaj byli członkami Kenny Gamble & the Romeos. Po kilku zajęciach i małżeństwie Gilbert zaczął pisać utwory z Gamble'em i Huffem, a także napisał tekst do hitu Billy'ego Paula "Me and Mrs. Jones" w 1972 roku. Napisał także teksty do piosenki "Do not Leave Me Me This", "pierwotnie utwór na albumie Harolda Melvina & Blue Notes z 1975 r." Wake Up Everybody ", a później międzynarodowy hit Thelmy Houston , której wersja została nominowana do nagrody Best R & B Song w 1978 r. Grammy Awards .

 Gilbert napisał również "Livin' for the Weekend" i "Your Body's Here With Me (But Your Mind Is on the Other Side of Town)" dla The O'Jays ,"Don’t Let the Music Slip Away " dla Archie Bell & the Drells i " Let's Clean Up the Ghetto " dla Philadelphia International All-Stars.

Gilbert zmarł w lutym 1993 roku, w wieku 50 lat, z powodu powikłań związanych z cukrzycą .
